Businesswoman Cristie, 35, lives in Leicestershire along with her companion, Dean, and fears that this Christmas is likely to be far less merry than traditional due to Hatchimals. ‘Esmee has needed a Hatchimal toy for the reason that moment she first saw them on YouTube,’ says Cristie.

‘I heard about a delivery at Toys R Us last week. So I drove for half an hour and queued for almost an hour at midnight freezing rain with about 20 others who had obtained the identical tip off. ‘It wasn’t unpleasant but there was a tense atmosphere as we watched them being unloaded, then we all crowded in direction of the door.’ Cristie just missed out.
